In Shanghai, Hengshan House feels like time held gently in place a 1930s Spanish Revival garden villa standing at the edge of the former French Concession. Arched colonnades, terrazzo balconies, and red-tiled rooflines make the architecture itself an artwork: elegant, restrained, and undeniably present. After meticulous restoration, the house is no longer simply “preserved.” It has become a contemporary vessel where exhibitions, culture, dining, and social gatherings coexist, allowing the city to breathe through history once again.
Niceworkshop presents the 'ALUMINUM FORMWORK SERIES', a furniture collection developed from aluminum formwork used in concrete construction. Aluminum formwork (“AL –FORM”) is used to create various types of concrete structures for architectural framing. Inspired by the cycle process of ‘Production–Rental –Repair –Dissolution –Reproduction’, niceworkshop designed FORMAT’s aluminum formworks part of its new furniture series.
