NICEWORKSHOP has focused on the forms and structures found in construction sites and industrial environments. Temporary structures such as scaffolding and formwork, which are assembled when needed and dismantled once their purpose is fulfilled, have been an important starting point for the studio’s work.

The project began as an exploration of how these ideas could be translated into an object at a smaller, more personal scale. It brings the temporality, mobility, and responsiveness of temporary structures to the scale of the human body. An umbrella unfolds when needed and folds away after use. Its lightweight frame and membrane move with the individual, responding to environmental conditions while creating a temporary space around the body.
